Get to Know Dr. Jordana Chettiparampil
Dr. Chetti, as her patients fondly call her, is a licensed therapeutic optometrist in Richmond, as well as an optometric glaucoma specialist who practices full-scope optometry. Dr. Chetti has a special way with children, thanks to her experience as a Vision Therapist. She is also skilled in diagnosing and managing corneal and retinal eye diseases, including Dry Eyes, infections, ocular foreign bodies, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. She specializes in myopia control for kids, using Orthokeratology. This involves overnight hard contact lenses that reshape the cornea to slow down nearsightedness. Dr. Chetti welcomes patients of ages four and above. If you or someone you know has difficulty communicating in English, Dr. Chetti speaks fluent Hindi, Urdu, and Malayalam. When she’s not caring for her patients, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their three daughters.
why did you want to become an optometrist?
During her senior year of college, Dr. Chetti embarked on a journey to discover her true calling within the realm of healthcare. Witnessing firsthand the daily work of optometrists, she was struck by the profound impact they have on people's lives. The personalized care, the joy of helping patients see the world more clearly, and the meaningful connections forged in the process resonated with her deeply. This led her to pursue a career as an optometrist where she could blend her passion for healthcare with the gratification of positively impacting the patient's overall well-being.

Study optometry?
Dr. Chetti attended the University of Houston College of Optometry. She delved into the field with a unique perspective by being a Vision Therapist while still a student, and after working as an associate for three years following school, she and her husband established her first private practice dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care in 2013.
In 2018, they opened a second practice. What sets her apart is her unwavering dedication to Myopia Control for children. Recognizing the rising concern of myopic progression in young individuals aged 5 to 17, she leverages advanced technology to precisely measure and create tailored action plans. Her approach encompasses cutting-edge techniques such as orthokeratology, dual-focus soft lenses, and Atropine therapy. By placing a strong emphasis on preventing myopic progression in children, she strives to make a lasting impact on their vision and overall eye health. Her commitment to providing quality eye care and innovative solutions remains at the forefront of her mission as the practice continues to grow and serve the community.

What Are Your Interests and Activities Outside the Optometry Clinic?
When she’s not taking care of her patients, Dr. Chetti spends time with her husband, Joe, and their daughters, Angela, Rose, and Gia. She is an avid badminton player and part of a local women's league. She spends several weeks of the year traveling with family, with their most recent trips being to Japan, Iceland, and Jamaica. Born in India, raised in the Middle East, and educated in the U.S. abroad, she speaks several languages in addition to English, including Hindi, Urdu, and Malayalam.
